Thomas Thrale left to his son Ralph the cottage in Sandridge Street which one knows to have been called at one time Goldsmiths, and in which at that time a shoemaker called Thomas Robinson was living. He was further left £950. Note 1792 [3] Acquitted of the criminal charge of being a highway robber. In a contemporary newspaper published in Berkhamsted called the Bucks, Beds and Hertfordshire Paper, sold for 3½d, there appeared the following item under the heading 'False Accusation' and read: 'I, Thomas Neyler, postillion to Edward Waller of Watford, Herts., do publicly acknowledge that I falsely accused Mr. Ralph Thrale of Wheathampstead Mill, Herts, and Mr. John Smith of the parish of Ellesborough Bucks., of being the two highwaymen who committed a robbery on Bushey Heath, near Stanmore; signed at Watford on 11th February 1793'
