FAIRFOLDS FARM, SANDRIDGE, HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND

FAIRFOLDS FARM, SANDRIDGE, HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND

Tree: UK Thrale family

Notes:

Robert Thrale the younger was the first recorded Thrale to farm the 229 acres of Feyrwnlfes, later called, Fairfolds in his will of 1541, and it stayed in the family until the death of Charles Parsons in 1834.

c.1500-1708, first Thrale ownership

From Robert Thrale the younger it passed to nephew John Thrale (d.1607), then to his widow Margaret Thrale née Chaplin. Their daughters, the Waldron, Hyde and Huntman families continued to hold Fairfolds for half a century longer.

1765-1813, second Thrale ownership

It returned to the Thrale family by the surrender in 1765 of Fairfolds by Thrale Waldron and Sarah Palmer (Sarah Huntman having married the Reverend Richard Palmer in 1759) to Thomas Thrale of Sandridge, and during his ownership, his great aunts and uncles Mary, Ralph and John lived at Fairfolds.

1834-date, post Thrale ownership

Upon Thomas's death in 1813, it passed to brother-in-law Charles Parsons, who was there until 1834.

The next farmer recorded there was James Cole. Later in the 19th century members of the George Family also farmed there as did George Byles.
