Sarah Jennings (1660-1744), Duchess of John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, of Holywell House, St. Albans, and of
Waterend House, Sandridge. This portrait hangs in the
Waterend Barn at St. Albans and is considered to be of Sarah before she went to Court and her subsequent marriage.
Waterend Barn now situated in the Civic Centre at St. Albans. Was part of Waterend House estate near Sandridge which was the family home of Sarah Jennings, and who, as Lady of the Manor of Sandridge, had many dealings with the Thrale family. The Thrales own the Waterend Barn as part of their restaurant business.
