Thrale history

Usher and Thrall Bank

Usher and Thrall Bank was a private banking firm established by Nathan R. Usher and William Thrall in Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin. It traded between 1859 and 1864.

It was located on the corner of Main and Albany Streets in Monroe and was a member of the Wisconsin Bankers’ Association. It closed in 1864, probably as a response to the National Banking Act which gave incentives for banks to submit to Federal supervision.

George Evans Thrall who was born on 4 February 1821 and died on 29 April 1905, is known to have moved to Monroe with his family and he went into the banking firm of Usher and Thrall.
