Inherited much of his father's estate aged 21, including the eight-acre farm. Election 1754 [2] Ralph is recorded as voting for Edward Gardener in the parliamentary election. Voting rights came with being a "40-shilling Freeholder" i.e. he owned freehold property worth at least 40 shillings a year in rent or income. Historic Sandridge.
